Who We Are
B4NZ convenes the UK country chapter of the Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA), which is one of the four main pillars of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ).
Our focus is strategic policy alignment – by creating clarity on which areas of the net zero transition require policies which can optimise the contribution banks can make to the real economy, we enable both policymakers and banks to play their part in accelerating the transition to net zero.

Country Chapter Support
“I look forward to continuing to work closely with B4NZ. The translation of international commitments to work on the ground in the real economy is going to be a fundamental part of banks’ transition plans. I see B4NZ playing an important role in supporting that work and also engaging with Parliament to help ensure climate policy from the official sector leverages climate action in the financial sector and vice versa.”
“We are pleased to continue our close coordination with Bankers for Net Zero, working together to turn these climate commitments into action. Bankers for Net Zero will support the implementation of the industry-led, UN-convened Net-Zero Banking Alliance in the United Kingdom. The on-the-ground support and in-depth local market knowledge provided by B4NZ will be instrumental in this critical journey, as banks take action to put their lending and investment portfolios on a pathway to net-zero emissions by 2050.”
“I welcome the launch today of the Bankers for Net Zero’s UK Country Chapter. This is another great example of the vital role the private sector is playing in the fight against climate change. As we look to COP26 and beyond, the race to reduce emissions and keep 1.5 alive has never been more urgent. Alliances like this are crucial to reaching this goal, and collaboration across every sector, from banking to civil society, will ensure we set ourselves on a path to a more sustainable future.”
“The UK has led the way on building a global financial system for net zero, including by founding the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) as part of its Presidency of COP26 and with the UN’s Race to Zero. The UK government has a world-leading net zero commitment, with a plan to achieve 68% decarbonisation in greenhouse gas emissions by the end of the decade compared to 1990. I’m pleased that the UK’s leading banks were all founding members of GFANZ and many more have joined since – and I look forward to working with UK Bankers for Net Zero on accelerating our transition to a net zero economy.”
